Good Morning Prayer
The "Modeh Ani" prayer is the first that is uttered by a Jew upon awakening in the morning. It thanks God for safekeeping the soul overnight and returning it to the body. This needlepoint poster depicts a sweet young girl washing her hands, in a ritual called "Negel Vasser", traditionally performed in the morning directly after getting out of bed. Her older sister looks on, and the words "Modeh Ani" in Hebrew appear above the scene.
